Manager deciso a cambiare vita, Peter Femfert lancia la sua galleria con un progetto all’avanguardia per i tempi: serigrafie numerate, ma non così limitate, destinate a ‘coltivare’ nuovi e fedeli collezionisti.
Non sono tanti i luoghi dove è possibile incontrare collezionisti e galleristi di un certo spessore: Art Basel/Miami e Art Miami, parte di quella dinamica settimana dedicata all’arte moderna e contemporanea che ogni anno invade letteralmente la città di Miami in Florida, sono sicuramente due di quelli. A esporre sono soprattutto gallerie americane, dal nord ma pure dal sud America, anche se l’Europa e, sempre più spesso l’Oriente, avanzano a passi lunghi: tra loro si distingue la tedesca Die Galerie.
Fondata nel 1979 dall’attuale proprietario, Peter Femfert, la galleria di Francoforte ha sicuramente una storia originale: deciso a cambiare la sua vita lavorativa, Femfert si concede un anno ‘di pausa’ che trascorre viaggiando; durante uno scalo ai Caraibi, conosce lo stampatore Hunterwasser che gli presenta un’innovativa tecnica di serigrafia in grado di ottenere opere ‘uniche’ nel loro aspetto finale. La passione per l’arte, l’amicizia con alcuni nomi noti nel settore e la qualità di stampa proposta da Hunterwasser diventano la base di un progetto innovativo per i tempi, intitolato Homo Humus come Va: opere numerate, ma non in serie troppo limitate, in grado di avvicinare al mondo dell’arte giovani e meno avvezzi, creando quel ‘substrato’ che negli anni diventerà il vero mercato dell’arte della Die Galerie. “Permettere a chiunque di acquistare un oggetto d’arte, iniziando a comprenderne il valore, senza fare investimenti eccessivi, è stato il segreto del successo della galleria”, racconta Femfert; “gli stessi giovani acquirenti negli anni hanno imparato non solo ad apprezzare certi pezzi, ma soprattutto a fidarsi di chi li aveva consigliati all’inizio”.
Die Galerie che nel 2019 ha festeggiato i 40 anni di attività, vanta in catalogo autori come Max Ernest (i cui eredi sono ancora oggi amici intimi del gallerista), André Masson, Klaus Zilla, Johannes Heisig, l’italiano Riccardo Cordero e il gruppo CoBrA di cui il solo artista rimasto in vita, Pierre Alechinsky, presenta periodicamente i propri lavori al gallerista.Quando cambiare vita, concedendosi una pausa da tutto, può valere il viaggio!
