Ricordate l’artista Marta Grossi? Circa un anno fa l’abbiamo intervistata su Fool a proposito di un suo “curioso lavoro” realizzato da poco. All’epoca Banana Graffiti era appena una scommessa, qualcosa di promettente ma che andava scoperto. Da allora, il progetto ha fatto molta strada, e le foto delle simpatiche banane dipinte hanno fatto il giro del mondo.
Abbiamo quindi ricontattato l’artista per farci spiegare che cosa è successo in così poco tempo, e come ha potuto un simile folle sogno trasformarsi in una così bella realtà.
Quando hai iniziato a lavorare a questo progetto ti aspettavi di vederlo crescere in questo modo?
Decisamente è stato tutto molto inaspettato! Banana Graffiti ha compiuto un anno questo ottobre e dopo che il progetto ha preso il via ed è diventato famoso mi aspettavo che a un certo punto arrivasse un momento di bivio. Dopo la sovraesposizione mediatica, i social, i magazines e tutto il resto, sono stata molto cauta con l’estensione da progetto di arte temporanea a operazione di marketing. Ho anche rifiutato delle offerte che ritenevo volessero solo la popolarità’ di Banana Graffiti ma non ne rispecchiassero l’identità e i valori. Nella rete un giorno ti conoscono tutti e il giorno dopo non sei nessuno. Ho lavorato duramente per questo progetto, impegnando tutto il mio tempo libero e seguendo in contemporanea altri lavori. Mi ricordo che passavo tutte le sere a rispondere interviste in giro per il mondo e i week-end a dipingere e pubblicare foto. Avevo capito che non potevo lasciare tutto li senza pensare al next step.
Dal dipingere le banane sei passata a caratterizzare altri oggetti con le foto dei tuoi lavori: dai cuscini alle cover per iPhone. Come sono nati questi progetti?
La prima collaborazione che mi è stata proposta è stata con una galleria in Brasile. Loro rappresentano il mio progetto e si possono acquistare delle limited edition online su questa pagina: marta-grossi.html. E’ una galleria molto popolare quindi mi sono subito fidata della collaborazione, inoltre in Brasile ho tantissimi fan! Hanno appena esposto Banana Graffiti alla fiera PIXEL SHOW di San Paolo tra il 18 e il 19 ottobre.
La seconda estensione di Banana Graffiti è uno shop online aperto nel sito Society6.com, una community che rappresenta creativi del mondo e dove si possono creare pezzi in serie con la propria arte. Questo progetto lo gestisco indipendentemente e nello shop online produco Art prints, cuscini, tazze, t-shirt, tote bag, ecc.
La terza collaborazione è nata con il gruppo italiano Aiino: tra qualche settimana sarà disponibile una collezione limitata di 5 esclusive Cover Banana Graffiti per i modelli iphone 4, 5s, 6 e SamsungS5.Le cover sono state presentate in anteprima mondiale alla ifa di Berlino e in italia saranno disponibili nei punti vendita Mediaworld. Sono molto felice di questa collaborazione, di avere come partner un brand made in italy.
La quarta (e per ora ultima) collaborazione è anche quella che considero la più’ impegnativa. Si tratta di una Capsule Collection di 13 capi, creata in collaborazione con il brand IBLUES (Max Mara group) e che sarà lanciata nella Spring Summer 2015. Trasformare un progetto nato come arte temporanea in un prodotto vendibile e realizzabile è estremamente complesso. Per ora non posso svelare di più’, ma sono davvero felice di quello che ne sa uscendo.
Che cosa hai in mente adesso? Stai lavorando a nuovi progetti?
Per ora sono full con l’estensione di questi sviluppi e tengo a precisare che Banana Graffiti non è il mio lavoro, ma solo uno dei miei progetti. Tengo sempre la mente aperta per le mie future follie creative e spero che ci sarà sempre spazio di condivisione e crescita. Di sicuro quando mi fermo e penso a cosa è successo in questo ultimo anno, alle notti insonni a scarabocchiare e fotografare banane sul pavimento, sorrido e mi sento davvero fortunata.
